Now to our God and Father be the glory forever and ever. Amen.Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen.
For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will glorify the lowly with salvation.For the Lord delights in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Not to us, Lord, not to us, But to Your name give glory, Because of Your mercy, because of Your truth.Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness.
The Lord makes poor and rich; He humbles, He also exalts.The Lord makes some poor and others rich; he brings some down and lifts others up.
Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt, and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just; and He is able to humble those who walk in pride.Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and glorify and honor the King of heaven. All his acts are just and true, and he is able to humble the proud.
Woe to the one who quarrels with his Maker— A piece of pottery among the other earthenware pottery pieces! Will the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you doing?’ Or the thing you are making say, ‘He has no hands’?What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’
Come, let’s worship and bow down, Let’s kneel before the Lord our Maker.Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker.
Now whenever you fast, do not make a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they distort their faces so that they will be noticed by people when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.And when you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get.
So if I, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet.
It is not this way among you, but whoever wants to become prominent among you shall be your servant, and whoever desires to be first among you shall be your slave.But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave.
For it is written: “As I live, says the Lord, to Me every knee will bow, And every tongue will give praise to God.”For the Scriptures say, “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bend to me, and every tongue will declare allegiance to God.’”
Now the brother or sister of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position; but the rich person is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.Believers who are poor have something to boast about, for God has honored them. And those who are rich should boast that God has humbled them. They will fade away like a little flower in the field.
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
What is man that You think of him, And a son of man that You are concerned about him?What are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?
Hear my prayer, Lord, and listen to my cry for help; Do not be silent to my tears; For I am a stranger with You, One who lives abroad, like all my fathers.Hear my prayer, O Lord! Behold, your king is coming to you; He is righteous and endowed with salvation, Humble, and mounted on a donkey, Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey— riding on a donkey’s colt.
Seek the Lord, All you humble of the earth Who have practiced His ordinances; Seek righteousness, seek humility. Perhaps you will remain hidden On the day of the Lord’s anger.Seek the Lord, all who are humble, and follow his commands. Seek to do what is right and to live humbly. Perhaps even yet the Lord will protect you— protect you from his anger on that day of destruction.
Truly, truly I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him.I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to raise his eyes toward heaven, but was beating his chest, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, the sinner!’But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed. Instead, he beat his chest in sorrow, saying, ‘O God, be merciful to me, for I am a sinner.’
