Law (3/5)

Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins. Everyone who believes in him is made right in God’s sight—something the law of Moses could never do.Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.
I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith?
For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace. You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.
‘I am the Lord your God,’ I told them. ‘Follow my decrees, pay attention to my regulations, and keep my Sabbath days holy, for they are a sign to remind you that I am the Lord your God.’I am the Lord your God; walk in my statutes, and be careful to obey my rules, and keep my Sabbaths holy that they may be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God.
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain. Stay there, and I will give you the tablets of stone on which I have inscribed the instructions and commands so you can teach the people.”The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain and wait there, that I may give you the tablets of stone, with the law and the commandment, which I have written for their instruction.”
God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor? There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?
You and I are Jews by birth, not ‘sinners’ like the Gentiles. Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
Do not add to or subtract from these commands I am giving you. Just obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you.You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you.
Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey his commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise him forever! The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!
The way of the Lord is a stronghold to those with integrity, but it destroys the wicked. The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the blameless, but destruction to evildoers.
You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. Honor your father and mother. Love your neighbor as yourself. You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments. And I shall walk in a wide place, for I have sought your precepts.
Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money!Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain!
You must faithfully keep all my commands by putting them into practice, for I am the Lord.So you shall keep my commandments and do them: I am the Lord.
I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.
Suppose you sin by violating one of the Lord’s commands. Even if you are unaware of what you have done, you are guilty and will be punished for your sin.If anyone sins, doing any of the things that by the Lord's commandments ought not to be done, though he did not know it, then realizes his guilt, he shall bear his iniquity.
Oh, that they would always have hearts like this, that they might fear me and obey all my commands! If they did, they and their descendants would prosper forever.Oh that they had such a heart as this always, to fear me and to keep all my commandments, that it might go well with them and with their descendants forever!
Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.
Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord.Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord!
The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify your name.In the path of your judgments, O Lord, we wait for you; your name and remembrance are the desire of our soul.
Your laws are my treasure; they are my heart’s delight.Your testimonies are my heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart.

As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should!I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous rules.
