Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in accord with the law of the Lord. | Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to Yahweh’s law. |
Come to your senses and sin no more. For some of you have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame. | Wake up righteously and don’t sin, for some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame. |
Good and upright is the Lord; therefore, he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them the path to follow. | Good and upright is Yahweh, therefore he will instruct sinners in the way. He will guide the humble in justice. He will teach the humble his way. |
But for you who fear my name the sun of justice will arise with its healing rays. You will emerge leaping like calves released from the stall. | But to you who fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings. You will go out and leap like calves of the stall. |
For no one can be regarded as justified in the sight of God by keeping the Law. The Law brings only the consciousness of sin. | Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight; for through the law comes the knowledge of sin. |
Then Peter addressed them: “I now understand how true it is that God has no favorites, but that in every nation all those who fear God and do what is right are acceptable to him.” | Peter opened his mouth and said, “Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favoritism; but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.” |
If we are diligent in observing all of these commandments before the Lord, our God, as he commanded of us, then this will be our righteousness. | It shall be righteousness to us, if we observe to do all these commandments before Yahweh our God, as he has commanded us. |
The righteous is remembered with blessings, but the name of the wicked fades away. | The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot. |
Train a child in the way he should go, and he will not deviate from it, even in old age. | Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. |
And yet he is aware of everywhere I go; if he were to test me, I would emerge like pure gold. My footsteps have not strayed from the path he established; I have followed his way and never turned aside. | But he knows the way that I take. When he has tried me, I will come out like gold. My foot has held fast to his steps. I have kept his way, and not turned away. |
I have instructed you in the ways of wisdom and led you along the paths of righteousness. | I have taught you in the way of wisdom. I have led you in straight paths. |
As we proceed in the path of your judgments, we wait for you, O Lord; your name and your renown are all that our heart desires. | Yes, in the way of your judgments, Yahweh, we have waited for you. Your name and your renown are the desire of our soul. |
I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, says the Lord God. Repent and live! | “For I have no pleasure in the death of him who dies,” says the Lord Yahweh. “Therefore turn yourselves, and live!” |
Let those who are wise understand these words, and let the prudent acknowledge them. For straight are the ways of the Lord; the upright walk in them, but sinners stumble. | Who is wise, that he may understand these things? Who is prudent, that he may know them? For the ways of Yahweh are right, and the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them. |
He is a rock, his deeds are perfect, and all of his ways are just. He is a God of truth who does no wrong; he is just and upright. | The Rock: his work is perfect, for all his ways are just. A God of faithfulness who does no wrong, just and right is he. |
Therefore, now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven. For all of his works are right, and all of his ways are just. Also, he is able to humble all those who follow the path of pride. | Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to abase. |
The one who provides seed for sowing and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed and increase the harvest of your righteousness. | Now may he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness. |
Nor should you present any part of your body as an instrument for wickedness leading to sin. Rather, present yourselves to God as having been raised from death to life and the parts of your body to God as instruments for righteousness. | Also, do not present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. |
The hope of the righteous brings them joy, but the expectations of the wicked are frustrated. | The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish. |
Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze on what lies before you. | Let your eyes look straight ahead. Fix your gaze directly before you. |
Truly, you bless the righteous, O Lord; you surround them with your goodwill as with a shield. | For you will bless the righteous. Yahweh, you will surround him with favor as with a shield. |
Riches will be of no avail on the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. | Riches don’t profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. |
The proud man’s heart is not upright, but the righteous man will live because of his faith. | Behold, his soul is puffed up. It is not upright in him, but the righteous will live by his faith. |
For he guards the paths of justice and keeps watch over the way of his faithful ones. | That he may guard the paths of justice, and preserve the way of his saints. |
I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. Now waiting for me is the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day—and not only to me, but to all those who have eagerly longed for his appearance. | I have fought the good fight. I have finished the course. I have kept the faith. From now on, the crown of righteousness is stored up for me, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day; and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved his appearing. |
