Bible Verses about Righteousness
Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life and honor too. | He who follows after righteousness and kindness finds life, righteousness, and honor. |
For God will repay everyone in accordance with what his deeds deserve. | Who “will pay back to everyone according to their works.” |
But as for you, man of God, you must shun all this. Rather, pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, fortitude, and gentleness. | But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. |
For the Lord loves the just, and he will not forsake his faithful ones. Do not be deceived; God cannot be mocked. A person will reap only what he sows. | Don’t be deceived. God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. |
A man’s ways may seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart. | Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the hearts. |
Rather, seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. | But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. |
He will never be swayed; the righteous man will be remembered forever. | For he will never be shaken. The righteous will be remembered forever. |
The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their cry. | Yahweh’s eyes are toward the righteous. His ears listen to their cry. |
To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. | To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to Yahweh than sacrifice. |
Yet even if you should suffer for doing what is right, you are thereby blessed. Have no fear of others, and refuse to be intimidated by them. | But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “Don’t fear what they fear, neither be troubled.” |
Let us never grow weary in doing what is right, for if we do not give up, we will reap our harvest in due time. | Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season if we don’t give up. |
Make sure that no one pays back evil for evil. Rather, always aim to achieve what is best for each other and for everyone. | See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good for one another and for all. |
He made him who did not know sin to be sin for our sake, so that through him we might become the righteousness of God. | For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. |
Finally, brethren, let your minds be filled with whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, whatever is excellent, whatever is worthy of praise. | Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. |
And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who are peacemakers. | Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. |
For the grace of God has appeared bringing salvation to the entire human race. It teaches us to reject godless ways and worldly desires, and in the present age to lead lives that are temperate, just, and godly. | For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age. |
Commit your way to the Lord; place your trust in him, and he will act. He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, and the justice of your cause, like the noonday. | Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this: he will make your righteousness shine out like light, and your justice as the noon day sun. |
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the company of scoffers. | Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers. |
Treasures obtained by wicked means profit nothing, but a righteous life brings delivery from death. | Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death. |
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will have their fill. | Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. |
The labors of the wicked man produce little profit, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward. | Wicked people earn deceitful wages, but one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward. |
And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do as much. | If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. |
It is rash to pledge a sacred gift, or to make a vow and then have second thoughts. | It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows. |
I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your precepts. | With my whole heart I have sought you. Don’t let me wander from your commandments. |
