- I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your precepts. - The misfortunes of the righteous man are many,
but the Lord delivers him, from all of them. - Speak out and pronounce righteous judgments;
defend the rights of the wretched and the poor. - Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you waverers.
- Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
- Entrust your cares to the Lord,
and he will uphold you;
he will never allow the righteous to waver. - Rather, let justice flow like a river,
and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream. - And learn to do good.
Pursue justice and rescue the oppressed;
listen to the plea of the orphan
and defend the widow. - Then you will understand equity and justice
as well as righteousness—every good path. - In it the righteousness of God is revealed, beginning in faith and established in faith. As it is written: “The one who is righteous will live through faith.”
- Therefore, you have no excuse, whoever you may be, when you pass judgment on others. For in judging others you condemn yourself, since you are doing the same things.
- Examine me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and understand my thoughts.
See if I follow an evil way,
and guide me on the way to eternity. - Blessed are those who are persecuted in the cause of justice,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. - Righteousness is a sign of a nation’s greatness,
but sin degrades any people. - For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer.
However, the face of the Lord
is set against those who do evil. - The Lord has told you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
Only this: to do what is right, to show mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God. - It is better to have little and be righteous
than to acquire great riches with injustice. - For Christ is the fulfillment of the Law for the justification of all who believe.
- At the time that discipline is received, it always seems painful rather than pleasant, but afterward it yields a harvest of peace and uprightness to those who have been trained by it.
- For the Lord is our judge,
the Lord is our lawgiver.
The Lord is our king;
he is the one who will save us. - With his mouth the godless man seeks to ruin his neighbor,
but knowledge enables the righteous to be delivered. - There is a way that seems right to a man,
but the end of it leads to death. - Do not associate with unbelievers. For what basis can there be for a partnership between righteousness and lawlessness? What do light and darkness have in common?
- The Lord loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is filled with his kindness. - But now the righteousness of God that is attested by the Law and the Prophets has been manifested apart from law: the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. No distinction has been made.
