Bible Verses about Patience

  • A patient man shows good sense,
    but a quick-tempered man displays the height of folly.
  • Love is patient;
    love is charitable.
    Love is not envious;
    it does not have an inflated opinion of itself;
    it is not filled with its own importance.
    Love is never rude;
    it does not seek its own advantage.
    It is not prone to anger;
    neither does it brood over setbacks.
  • Be joyful in your hope. Be patient in times of affliction. Persevere in prayer.
  • With all humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another in a spirit of love.
  • But if we hope for what we do not yet see, then we wait for it with patience.
  • Let us never grow weary in doing what is right, for if we do not give up, we will reap our harvest in due time.
  • It is better to be a patient man rather than a warrior,
    one who controls his temper rather than one who captures a city.
  • Wait quietly for the Lord
    and be patient until he comes.
    Do not fret over the man who prospers
    because of his evil schemes.
  • Place your hope in the Lord:
    be strong and courageous in your heart,
    and place your hope in the Lord.
  • The Lord will battle for you. Be calm!
  • The Lord does not delay in keeping his promise, as some think in terms of delay, but he is patient with you. It is not his wish that any should perish but rather that all should be brought to repentance.
  • As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
  • May the God of perseverance and encouragement grant that you may live in harmony with one another, following in the example of Jesus Christ.
  • For his anger lasts for only a moment,
    while his goodwill endures for a lifetime.
    Weeping may last throughout the night,
    but at daybreak there is rejoicing.
  • O Lord, at daybreak you hear my voice;
    at daybreak I bring my petition before you
    and await your reply.
  • But even so the Lord is waiting to be gracious to you,
    and he will rise up to grant you his compassion.
    For the Lord is a God of justice;
    blessed are all those who wait for him.
  • The Lord is merciful and gracious,
    slow to anger and abounding in kindness.
  • But whoever endures to the end will be saved.
  • But for that very reason I was treated mercifully, so that in me Jesus Christ might exhibit his inexhaustible patience, making me an example for those who would come to believe in him for eternal life.
  • But do not ignore this one fact, beloved: with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like one day.
  • Preach the message; be persistent in doing so, whether in season or out of season; convince, reprove, and encourage, but with great patience and instruction.
  • Therefore, keep watch, for you do not know the day when your Lord is coming.
  • I am coming soon. Hold fast to what you already have so that no one may rob you of your crown.
  • Rend your hearts and not your garments,
    and turn back to the Lord, your God.
    For he is gracious and merciful,
    slow to anger, rich in kindness,
    and always prepared to relent from punishing.
  • The hope of the righteous brings them joy,
    but the expectations of the wicked are frustrated.

You need to be steadfast if you want to do the will of God and receive what he has promised.
