Bible Verses about Dependence

  • For I, the Lord, am your God
    and I grasp your right hand.
    It is I who say to you,
    Do not fear; I will help you.
  • Trust wholeheartedly in the Lord
    rather than relying on your own intelligence.
    In everything you do, acknowledge him,
    and he will see that your paths are straight.
  • A man may plan his own course,
    but the Lord makes his steps secure.
  • Even should my heart and my flesh fail,
    God is the rock of my heart
    and my portion forever.
  • I lift up my eyes to the mountains;
    from where will I receive help?
    My help comes from the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.
  • Many are the plans in a human mind,
    but it is the purpose of the Lord that will prevail.
  • I am the vine,
    you are the branches.
    Whoever abides in me, and I in him,
    will bear much fruit.
    Apart from me you can do nothing.
  • He gives strength to the weary
    and new vigor to those who are powerless.
  • I do not say this because I have been in need, for I have learned to be content with whatever I have.
  • He will not permit your foot to stumble;
    he who guards you will not fall asleep.
  • So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself. Each day has enough troubles of its own.
  • The Lord is my shepherd;
    there is nothing I shall lack.
    He makes me lie down in green pastures;
    he leads me to tranquil streams.
  • I keep the Lord always before me,
    for with him at my right hand
    I will never fall.
  • Live in harmony with one another. Do not consider yourself to be better than others, but associate with the lowly, and never be conceited.
  • The Lord will battle for you. Be calm!
  • If the Lord does not build the house,
    those who construct it labor in vain.
    If the Lord does not guard the city,
    those who keep watch over it do so in vain.
  • The blessing of the Lord is what brings wealth,
    and our toil adds nothing to it.
  • When I realized that my foot was slipping,
    your kindness, O Lord, raised me up.
  • In my distress I called out to the Lord;
    he answered by setting me free.
  • But who am I, and what are your people,
    that we should be able to do this?
    All things belong to you,
    and everything that we have given you is from your hand.
  • When things are going well, be grateful for your blessings,
    and in times of adversity consider this:
    God has made both of them,
    so that we cannot predict with confidence
    what the future holds.
  • Those who live according to the flesh can never be pleasing to God.
  • Protect me, O God,
    for in you I take refuge.
  • It was not their own swords that won them the land,
    nor did their own arms make them victorious;
    rather, it was your right hand and your arm
    and the light of your face,
    because you loved them.
  • Restore us, O Lord of hosts;
    let your face shine upon us,
    and we will be saved.

For just as in one body we have many parts, and the parts do not all have the same function, so we, though many, make up one body in Christ, and individually we are all parts of one another.
