Bible Verses about Dependence
For I, the Lord, am your God and I grasp your right hand. It is I who say to you, Do not fear; I will help you. | For I, Yahweh your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I will help you.’ |
Trust wholeheartedly in the Lord rather than relying on your own intelligence. In everything you do, acknowledge him, and he will see that your paths are straight. | Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. |
A man may plan his own course, but the Lord makes his steps secure. | A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps. |
Even should my heart and my flesh fail, God is the rock of my heart and my portion forever. | My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. |
I lift up my eyes to the mountains; from where will I receive help? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. | I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth. |
Many are the plans in a human mind, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will prevail. | There are many plans in a man’s heart, but Yahweh’s counsel will prevail. |
I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever abides in me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing. | I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. |
He gives strength to the weary and new vigor to those who are powerless. | He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. |
I do not say this because I have been in need, for I have learned to be content with whatever I have. | Not that I speak because of lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. |
He will not permit your foot to stumble; he who guards you will not fall asleep. | He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. |
So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself. Each day has enough troubles of its own. | Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient. |
The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall lack. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me to tranquil streams. | Yahweh is my shepherd; I shall lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. |
I keep the Lord always before me, for with him at my right hand I will never fall. | I have set Yahweh always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. |
Live in harmony with one another. Do not consider yourself to be better than others, but associate with the lowly, and never be conceited. | Be of the same mind one toward another. Don’t set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Don’t be wise in your own conceits. |

But who am I, and what are your people, that we should be able to do this? All things belong to you, and everything that we have given you is from your hand. | But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from you, and we have given you of your own. |
When things are going well, be grateful for your blessings, and in times of adversity consider this: God has made both of them, so that we cannot predict with confidence what the future holds. | In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider; yes, God has made the one side by side with the other, to the end that man should not find out anything after him. |
