Dependence (2/2)

  • For just as in one body we have many parts, and the parts do not all have the same function, so we, though many, make up one body in Christ, and individually we are all parts of one another.
  • Blessed be the Lord, day after day,
    the God of our salvation, who carries our burden. Selah
  • Surely God is my helper;
    the Lord is the one who sustains me.
  • In you, O Lord, I have taken refuge;
    let me never be put to shame;
    in your righteousness deliver me.
  • But you, O Lord, are a shield to protect me;
    you are my glory and the one who raises my head high.
  • He has made everything suitable for its time, and he has given men a sense of past and future, but they never have the slightest comprehension of what God has wrought from beginning to end.
  • Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord;
    O Lord, hear my voice.
    Let your ears be attentive
    to my cries of supplication.
  • The Lord makes poor and makes rich,
    he humbles and he also exalts.
  • Salvation comes from the Lord.
    May your blessing be upon your people. Selah
  • Then Job arose, tore his cloak, and shaved his head. He threw himself prostrate on the ground and said:
    “Naked I emerged from my mother’s womb,
    and naked I will return.
    The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away;
    blessed be the name of the Lord.”
  • In that way, I can come to you in joy, if God so wills, and be refreshed together with you.
  • Give us this day our daily bread.
  • Our God is in heaven;
    he does whatever he pleases.
  • While Peter was thus imprisoned, the Church prayed fervently to God for him.
  • When I fed them, they were satisfied;
    when they were satisfied, they became proud of heart
    and quickly forgot me.
  • Those who live according to the flesh fix their attention on the things of the flesh, while those who live according to the Spirit set their thoughts on spiritual things.
  • You, O Lord, are light for my lamp;
    O my God, you make my darkness turn to light.
  • I stretch out my hands to you;
    my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah

Do not seek to adorn yourself externally—by the braiding of your hair and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothing. Rather, let your adornment be of your inner self, the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.Next verse!With image
