Bible Verses about Mercy

  • Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence so that we may receive mercy and find grace when we are in need of help.
  • Go and learn what this text means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.
  • But God is rich in his mercy, and because he had such great love for us, he brought us to life with Christ when we were already dead through sin—it is by grace that you have been saved.
  • Have mercy on me, O God,
    in accord with your kindness;
    in your abundant compassion
    wipe away my offenses.
    Wash me completely from my guilt,
    and cleanse me from my sin.
  • For the Lord, your God, is gracious and compassionate, and he will not turn his face away from you if you return to him.
  • What god can compare with you,
    the God who takes away guilt
    and forgives the transgressions
    of the remnant of your people?
    You will not allow your anger to fester forever,
    for your delight is in bestowing mercy.
  • But even so the Lord is waiting to be gracious to you,
    and he will rise up to grant you his compassion.
    For the Lord is a God of justice;
    blessed are all those who wait for him.
  • If you forgive others for the wrongs they have done, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
  • Be mindful, O Lord, that mercy and kindness
    have been yours from of old.
    Remember not the sins of my youth
    or my many transgressions,
    but remember me in your kindness,
    for the sake of your goodness, O Lord.
  • Therefore, brethren, I implore you by the mercies of God to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice that is holy and acceptable to God—a spiritual act of worship.
  • O Lord, do not withhold your mercy from me;
    may your kindness and your truth keep me safe forever.
  • Only goodness and kindness will follow me
    all the days of my life,
    and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever and ever.
  • May the favor of the Lord, our God, rest upon us.
    And may the work of our hands prosper—
    indeed, may the work of our hands prosper.
  • What then? Should we sin because we are not under the Law but under grace? Of course not!
  • The future bodes well for him
    who is generous in helping those in need
    and who conducts his affairs with justice.
  • Yet even so, because of your great compassion,
    you did not completely destroy them,
    nor did you forsake them,
    for you are a gracious and merciful God.
  • Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord;
    O Lord, hear my voice.
    Let your ears be attentive
    to my cries of supplication.
  • For God so loved the world
    that he gave his only Son,
    so that everyone who believes in him
    may not perish
    but may attain eternal life.
  • But he answered me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” Hence, I will boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell within me.
  • No one who conceals his transgressions will prosper,
    but one who confesses and renounces them will obtain mercy.
  • However, the gift is not like the transgression. For if the transgression of one man led to the death of the many, how much greater was the overflowing effect of the grace of God and the gift of the one man Jesus Christ that has abounded for the many.
  • Let the wicked abandon their ways
    and those who are evil their thoughts.
    Let them return to the Lord
    so that he may have mercy upon them;
    and to our God,
    for he is rich in forgiveness.
  • Then Peter came up to him and asked, “Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?” Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven times but seventy times seven.”
  • The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
  • Not because of any righteous deeds on our part
    but because of his mercy,
    he saved us through the bath of rebirth
    and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

Return, rebel Israel, says the Lord.
I will not look upon you in anger.
For I am merciful, says the Lord;
my wrath will not continue forever.

May the Lord, our God, be with us, just as he was with our fathers; may he not leave us or abandon us.
