The Lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. | The Lord is good and upright; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in justice, And He teaches the humble His way. |
Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord. | Blessed are those whose way is blameless, Who walk in the Law of the Lord. |
I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die. | I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly. |
For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are. | Because by the works of the Law none of mankind will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes knowledge of sin. |
Let those who are wise understand these things. Let those with discernment listen carefully. The paths of the Lord are true and right, and righteous people live by walking in them. For the ways of the Lord are right, And the righteous will walk in them, But wrongdoers will stumble in them. |
He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. | He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity. |
Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all. | Sober up morally and stop sinning, for some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame. |
Then Peter replied, “I see very clearly that God shows no favoritism. In every nation he accepts those who fear him and do what is right.” | Opening his mouth, Peter said: “I most certainly understand now that God is not one to show partiality, but in every nation the one who fears Him and does what is right is acceptable to Him.” |
Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it. | Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he grows older he will not abandon it. |
But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold. I will teach you wisdom’s ways and lead you in straight paths. | I have instructed you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in upright paths. |
The hopes of the godly result in happiness, but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing. | The hope of the righteous is gladness, But the expectation of the wicked perishes. |
We have happy memories of the godly, but the name of a wicked person rots away. | The mentioning of the righteous is a blessing, But the name of the wicked will rot. |
For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. | For the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth. |
Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify your name. | Indeed, while following the way of Your judgments, Lord, We have waited for You eagerly; Your name, and remembering You, is the desire of our souls. |
Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. | And do not go on presenting the parts of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead, and your body’s parts as instruments of righteousness for God. |
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me—the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on the day of his return. He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him. | Guarding the paths of justice, And He watches over the way of His godly ones. |
For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. | Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. |
