| Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord! | The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. |

| But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. | For our citizenship is in heaven, from where we also wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. |
| The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. | The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly. |
| But the Lord will redeem those who serve him. No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. | Yahweh redeems the soul of his servants. None of those who take refuge in him shall be condemned. |
