How happy is the one whom God reproves; therefore do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.But consider the joy of those corrected by God! Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin.
Indeed, we live as human beings, but we do not wage war according to human standards.We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do.
Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord.Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.
I do not nullify the grace of God; for if justification comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing.I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.

If we say that we have fellowship with him while we are walking in darkness, we lie and do not do what is true.So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth.
Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not make room for the devil.And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
I hurry and do not delay to keep your commandments.I will hurry, without delay, to obey your commands.
Do not love the world or the things in the world. The love of the Father is not in those who love the world.Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which you were marked with a seal for the day of redemption.And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
Get wisdom; get insight: do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.Get wisdom; develop good judgment. Don’t forget my words or turn away from them.
Do not say, “Why were the former days better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask this.Don’t long for “the good old days.” This is not wise.
My child, keep your father's commandment, and do not forsake your mother's teaching.My son, obey your father’s commands, and don’t neglect your mother’s instruction.
Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again.Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, don’t try to get them back.

Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword.
