| See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. | See what love the Father has bestowed on us, enabling us to be called the children of God, and that is what we are. If the world does not recognize us, that is because it did not know him. |
| Fine speech is not becoming to a fool; still less is false speech to a ruler. | Fine words are not becoming to a fool, and much less are false words to a noble. |
