| But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. | But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions. |

| No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. | No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is made complete in us. |
| If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. | If we claim that we have fellowship with him while we continue to live in darkness, we are lying and do not live in the truth. |
| Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. | Beloved, since God loved us so much, we should love one another. |
| I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose. | I do not set aside the grace of God, for if justification comes through the Law, then Christ died for nothing. |
| If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. | However, if we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all wrongdoing. |
| If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. | If someone among you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without finding fault, and it will be given to him. |
| For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him. | For the Lord, your God, is gracious and compassionate, and he will not turn his face away from you if you return to him. |
| But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled. | Yet even if you should suffer for doing what is right, you are thereby blessed. Have no fear of others, and refuse to be intimidated by them. |
| In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? | In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? |
| But from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul. | But if you seek the Lord, your God, and you strive with all your heart and your soul, you will find him there. |
| If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. | So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. |
| And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. | And thus we can have confidence in him that if we ask anything that is in accordance with his will, he hears us. |

| For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! | And if one should fall, his companion will help him up. How pathetic is the man who is alone and falls and has no one to assist him to his feet. |
| Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. | If you confess with your lips, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. |
