That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit. | What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. |
By this all people will know that you are My disciples: if you have love for one another. | This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples: if you love one another. |
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him, and he in God. | God abides in anyone who acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, and that person abides in God. |
My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. | By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples. |
And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. | And this is the testimony: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. |
So Jesus said to them again, “Peace be to you; just as the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” | “Peace be with you,” Jesus said to them again. “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” |
Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” | Jesus replied, “This is the work of God: to believe in the one whom he has sent.” |
Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” | Jesus replied, “Did I not tell you that if you have faith you will see the glory of God?” |
Who is the one who overcomes the world, but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? | Who indeed conquers the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? |
By this we know that we remain in Him and He in us, because He has given to us of His Spirit. | This is how we can be certain that we abide in him and that he abides in us: he has given us a share in his Spirit. |
The one who has the Son has the life; the one who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. | Whoever possesses the Son possesses life; whoever does not possess the Son of God does not possess life. |
For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we are to love one another. | For from the beginning you have heard the message that we should love one another. |

All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being. | Through him all things came into existence, and without him there was nothing. That which came to be. |
I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, so that He may be with you forever. | And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever. |
So if I, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. | So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. |
And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God must also love his brother and sister. | This is the commandment we have received from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. |
These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full. | I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. |
I am not asking You to take them out of the world, but to keep them away from the evil one. | I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I do ask you to protect them from the evil one. |
If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him. | If you know me, then you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him. You have seen him. |
Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also. | Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father, but whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also. |
I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. | I am the gate. Anyone who enters through me will be saved. He will go in and out and will find pasture. |
Therefore Jesus said, “For a little while longer I am going to be with you, and then I am going to Him who sent Me.” | Jesus then said, “I will remain with you only for a short time longer, and then I shall return to him who sent me.” |
