Do not love the world or what is in the world. If anyone does love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.
However, if we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all wrongdoing.If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
However, whoever lives by the truth comes to the light so that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been done in God.But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
Amen, amen, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.
This is the message that we have heard from him and that we declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness at all in him.This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

This is how we know what love is: he laid down his life for us, and we in turn must be prepared to lay down our lives for our brethren.This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.

God’s love was revealed to us in this way: God sent his only-begotten Son into the world so that we might have life through him.This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.

And now, dear children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not be put to shame by him at his coming.And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.
Jesus answered them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

We have come to know and to believe in the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him.And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
If anyone is rich in worldly possessions and sees a brother in need but refuses to open his heart, how can the love of God abide in him?If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?
Jesus answered him, “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our abode with him.”Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. And we saw his glory, the glory as of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth.The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
