Matthew 11:25 (3/5)

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”
Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.
Now John wore a garment of camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.John’s clothes were woven from coarse camel hair, and he wore a leather belt around his waist. For food he ate locusts and wild honey.
Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.
I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.I baptize with water those who repent of their sins and turn to God. But someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not worthy even to be his slave and carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
And behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”And a voice from heaven said, “This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”
But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”
And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”
Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.
You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose.
For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God’s law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.
Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God’s laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.
You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart. You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.So if your eye—even your good eye—causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. But I say, do not make any vows! Do not say, ‘By heaven!’ because heaven is God’s throne. And do not say, ‘By the earth!’ because the earth is his footstool. And do not say, ‘By Jerusalem!’ for Jerusalem is the city of the great King.
Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.Just say a simple, ‘Yes, I will,’ or ‘No, I won’t.’ Anything beyond this is from the evil one.

But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!
