If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. Matthew 6:14	For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. sin grace forgiveness
But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:15	But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. forgiveness sin Father
And when you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get. Matthew 6:16	Moreover when you fast, don’t be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward. fasting humility reward
But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. Matthew 6:17-18	But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you. fasting Father reward
Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Matthew 6:19-20	Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal. greed materialism heaven
Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. Matthew 6:21	For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. materialism money heart
No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money. Matthew 6:24	No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t serve both God and Mammon. serving money debt
That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Matthew 6:25	Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing? food life worrying
Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Matthew 6:26	See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they? valuable trust Father
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33	But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. righteousness food kingdom
So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. Matthew 6:34	Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient. life worrying dependence
Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Matthew 7:1	Don’t judge, so that you won’t be judged. law judgment
And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? Matthew 7:3	Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but don’t consider the beam that is in your own eye? sin judgment
Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7	Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. reward seeking receiving
Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets. Matthew 7:12	Therefore, whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets. law neighbor relationships
You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. Matthew 7:13-14	Enter in by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in by it. How narrow is the gate and the way is restricted that leads to life! There are few who find it. eternal life salvation
Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. Matthew 7:15	Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. second coming prophecy clothing
Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. Matthew 7:21	Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. obedience salvation kingdom
Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Matthew 7:24	Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on a rock. Word of God wisdom listening
