And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” Matthew 19:21	Jesus said to him, “If you want to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” blameless giving materialism
It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

But as for you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
