| So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. | The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. |

Does he promise and not fulfill? |
| When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer. | When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy. |
| Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. | Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. |

| The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve. | The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure.
