Not that I am referring to being in need; for I have learned to be content with whatever I have. | Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. |
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. | Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. |

Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. | Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. |
Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. | Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. |
Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. | Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. |
Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you. | Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. |
I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of being in need. | I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. |
I can do all things through him who strengthens me. | I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. |
And my God will fully satisfy every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. | But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. |
To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. | Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen. |
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. | The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. |
I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ. | Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. |
For I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance. | For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. |
For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain. | For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. |
I am hard pressed between the two: my desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better; but to remain in the flesh is more necessary for you. | For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. |
For he has graciously granted you the privilege not only of believing in Christ, but of suffering for him as well. | For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake. |
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. | Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. |
Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus. | Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. |
Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death— even death on a cross. | Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. |
Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. | Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. |
And every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. | And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. |
Do all things without murmuring and arguing, so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world. It is by your holding fast to the word of life. | Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life. |
I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the sharing of his sufferings by becoming like him in his death. | That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death. |
I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus. | I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. |
But our citizenship is in heaven, and it is from there that we are expecting a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. | For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. |
