Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety. | The fear of others will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is secure. |
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. | Those who place their hope in the Lord will regain their strength. They will soar as with eagles’ wings, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not become faint. |
The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. | The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart places its trust in him. He has helped me, and I exult; then with my song I praise him. |
Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful. | The one who pays heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is he who trusts in the Lord. |
But the Lord will redeem those who serve him. No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. | The Lord redeems the lives of those who serve him; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him. |
God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. | The way of God is blameless, and the Lord’s promise proves true; he is a shield to all who flee to him for safety. |
God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. | The way of God is blameless; the Lord’s promise has proved true. He is a shield to all who take refuge in him. |
But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants. | However, whoever lives by the truth comes to the light so that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been done in God. |
My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. | My deliverance and my glory depend on God; he is my mighty rock and my refuge. |
I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. | In God alone is my soul at rest; it is from him that my salvation comes. |
I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. | I ask that from the riches of his glory he may grant through his Spirit that you be strengthened with power in your inner being and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. |
Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. | In God alone be at rest, O my soul; it is from him that my hope comes. |
How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world. | How great is your goodness, O Lord, which you have stored up for those who fear you and which you bestow on those who take refuge in you, in the presence of all the people. |
O Lord, I have come to you for protection; don’t let me be disgraced. Save me, for you do what is right. | In you, O Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; in your righteousness deliver me. |
For the word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything he does. | For the word of the Lord is true, and he is faithful in everything he does. |
But the Lord watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love. | But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those who trust in his kindness. |

So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. You don’t need further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. | Therefore, let us leave behind the basic teaching about Christ and advance toward maturity. We must not be forever laying the foundation: repentance for actions that lead to death, faith in God, instruction about baptisms and the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. |
