Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety. | The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe. |
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. | But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint. |

The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. | Yahweh is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices. With my song I will thank him. |
Those who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust the Lord will be joyful. | He who heeds the Word finds prosperity. Whoever trusts in Yahweh is blessed. |
But the Lord will redeem those who serve him. No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. | Yahweh redeems the soul of his servants. None of those who take refuge in him shall be condemned. |
God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. | As for God, his way is perfect. Yahweh’s word is tried. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him. |
God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. | As for God, his way is perfect. Yahweh’s word is tested. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him. |
But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants. | But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, that they have been done in God. |
My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. | My salvation and my honor is with God. The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. |
I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. | My soul rests in God alone. My salvation is from him. |
I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. | That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love. |
Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. | My soul, wait in silence for God alone, for my expectation is from him. |
How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world. | Oh how great is your goodness, which you have laid up for those who fear you, which you have worked for those who take refuge in you, before the sons of men! |
O Lord, I have come to you for protection; don’t let me be disgraced. Save me, for you do what is right. | In you, Yahweh, I take refuge. Let me never be disappointed. Deliver me in your righteousness. |
For the word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything he does. | For Yahweh’s word is right. All his work is done in faithfulness. |
But the Lord watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love. | Behold, Yahweh’s eye is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his loving kindness. |
Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. | Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. |
So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. | God created man in his own image. In God’s image he created him; male and female he created them. |
I love you, Lord; you are my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. | I love you, Yahweh, my strength. Yahweh is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower. |
Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich. Be wise enough to know when to quit. | Don’t weary yourself to be rich. In your wisdom, show restraint. |
But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. | But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed. |
So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. You don’t need further instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. | Therefore leaving the teaching of the first principles of Christ, let’s press on to perfection—not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, of faith toward God, of the teaching of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. |
As for me, I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me. | But as for me, I will look to Yahweh. I will wait for the God of my salvation. My God will hear me. |
Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world. | Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. |
He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. | He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart. |
