Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? Matthew 16:26	For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life? materialism life soul
For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are. Romans 3:20	Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight; for through the law comes the knowledge of sin. sin law righteousness
Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward. 2 John 1:8	Watch yourselves, that we don’t lose the things which we have accomplished, but that we receive a full reward. reward self-control work
Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do. Romans 13:6	For this reason you also pay taxes, for they are servants of God’s service, continually doing this very thing. honesty money greed
But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats. 1 Peter 3:14	But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “Don’t fear what they fear, neither be troubled.” righteousness suffering fear
Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all. 1 Corinthians 15:34	Wake up righteously and don’t sin, for some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame. righteousness sin conversion
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Galatians 6:9	Let’s not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season if we don’t give up. righteousness reward patience
And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. 1 John 2:17	The world is passing away with its lusts, but he who does God’s will remains forever. eternal life obedience desires

But in your great mercy, you did not destroy them completely or abandon them forever. What a gracious and merciful God you are! Nehemiah 9:31	Nevertheless in your manifold mercies you didn’t make a full end of them, nor forsake them; for you are a gracious and merciful God. grace mercy nearness

What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man. Luke 6:22	Blessed are you when men hate you, and when they exclude and mock you, and throw out your name as evil, for the Son of Man’s sake. blessing persecution evil
We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. 1 John 3:16	By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. love Jesus neighbor
Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. Hebrews 10:36	For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise. patience obedience receiving
But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ. 1 John 2:27	As for you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, and you don’t need for anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, you will remain in him. truth learning receiving
In that wonderful day you will sing: “Thank the Lord! Praise his name! Tell the nations what he has done. Let them know how mighty he is!” Isaiah 12:4	In that day you will say, “Give thanks to Yahweh! Call on his name! Declare his doings among the peoples! Proclaim that his name is exalted!” speaking evangelism worship
God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor? James 4:12	Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another? law judgment salvation
All the believers were united in heart and mind. And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had. Acts 4:32	The multitude of those who believed were of one heart and soul. Not one of them claimed that anything of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. materialism community
Do what is good and run from evil so that you may live! Then the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies will be your helper, just as you have claimed. Amos 5:14	Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so Yahweh, the God of Armies, will be with you, as you say. holiness reward seeking
