| When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all assembled together in one place. Suddenly, there came from heaven a sound similar to that of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were sitting. | When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. | The birth of Jesus Christ occurred in this way. When his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they came to live together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. | Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. |
| A man is joyful when he utters apt answers, and even more satisfying is a word in season. | A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is! |
| Wealth hastily acquired will dwindle away, but when amassed little by little, it will increase. | Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, But he who gathers by labor will increase. |

| Hope deferred sickens the heart, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life. | Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But when the desire comes, it is a tree of life. |
| When things are going well, be grateful for your blessings, and in times of adversity consider this: God has made both of them, so that we cannot predict with confidence what the future holds. | In the day of prosperity be joyful, But in the day of adversity consider: Surely God has appointed the one as well as the other, So that man can find out nothing that will come after him. |

| God blessed the seventh day and he consecrated it, for on it he rested from all the work he had done when he created all things. | Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made. |
| And if one should fall, his companion will help him up. How pathetic is the man who is alone and falls and has no one to assist him to his feet. | For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up. |
| Whenever you fast, do not assume a gloomy expression like the hypocrites who contort their faces so that others may realize that they are fasting. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. | Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. |
| Therefore, you have no excuse, whoever you may be, when you pass judgment on others. For in judging others you condemn yourself, since you are doing the same things. | Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. |
