For so the Lord has commanded us, ‘I have appointed You as a light to the Gentiles, That You may bring salvation to the end of the earth.’ | For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.” |
And if you say in your heart, ‘How will we recognize the word which the Lord has not spoken?’ When the prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, and the thing does not happen or come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you are not to be afraid of him. | You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed. |

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! | Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! |
Now if a person sins and does any of the things which the Lord has commanded not to be done, though he was unaware, he is still guilty and shall bear his punishment. | If anyone sins and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord’s commands, even though they do not know it, they are guilty and will be held responsible. |
And so the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people.” | But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” |
Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is the sustainer of my soul. | Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me. |
One who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will lodge in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!” | Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” |
For the Lord loves justice And does not abandon His godly ones; They are protected forever, But the descendants of the wicked will be eliminated. | For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish. |
The Lord will fight for you, while you keep silent. | The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. |
Better is the little of the righteous Than the abundance of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked will be broken, But the Lord sustains the righteous. | Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked; for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous. |
For one who finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the Lord. | For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord. |
The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; for that reason also the holy Child will be called the Son of God.” | The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.” |
“Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked,” declares the Lord God, “rather than that he would turn from his ways and live?” | Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and live? |
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. | Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. |
Not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. | Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. |
Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face continually. | Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. |
Let your gentle spirit be known to all people. The Lord is near. | Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. |
The steps of a man are established by the Lord, And He delights in his way. | The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him. |
Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; Do not get upset because of one who is successful in his way, Because of the person who carries out wicked schemes. | Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. |
Wives, subject yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. | Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. |
Everything that has breath shall praise the Lord. Praise the Lord! | Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. |
He who finds a wife finds a good thing And obtains favor from the Lord. | He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord. |
Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, Who walks in His ways. | Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. |
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. | Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. |
For who is God, but the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? | For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? |
