| Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from a trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment. | Therefore, the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from their trials and to hold the wicked for punishment until the Day of Judgment. |
| Open your mouth for the people who cannot speak, For the rights of all the unfortunate. | Speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves, and defend the rights of the destitute. |
| Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight. Stop doing evil. | Wash yourselves and become clean; remove your evil deeds far from my sight. Cease to do evil. |
