One who brings gossip betrays a confidence, but one who is of a trustworthy spirit is one who keeps a secret.A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
The words of a gossip are like dainty morsels: they go down into a person’s innermost parts.The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends.A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
He who walks blamelessly and does what is right, and speaks truth in his heart; he who doesn’t slander with his tongue, nor does evil to his friend, nor casts slurs against his fellow man.He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour.
Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear.Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor, but the righteous will be delivered through knowledge.An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
He who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool.He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.
Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Or don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom.Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking lies.Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but deceit in it crushes the spirit.A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
