| If you know me, then you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him. You have seen him. | If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him! |
| And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do as much. | And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much! |

| If we claim that we have fellowship with him while we continue to live in darkness, we are lying and do not live in the truth. | So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. |
| I do not set aside the grace of God, for if justification comes through the Law, then Christ died for nothing. | I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die. |
| But if you seek the Lord, your God, and you strive with all your heart and your soul, you will find him there. | But from there you will search again for the Lord your God. And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him. |
| However, if we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all wrongdoing. | But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. |
| For the Lord, your God, is gracious and compassionate, and he will not turn his face away from you if you return to him. | For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful. If you return to him, he will not continue to turn his face from you. |
| So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. | And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. |
| If someone among you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without finding fault, and it will be given to him. | If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. |
| And thus we can have confidence in him that if we ask anything that is in accordance with his will, he hears us. | And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. |
| Jesus answered them, “Amen, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what has been done to this fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be accomplished.” | Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen.” |
| In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? | There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? |
| And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask him, we may be sure that all we ask of him will be ours. | And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. |
| Yet even if you should suffer for doing what is right, you are thereby blessed. Have no fear of others, and refuse to be intimidated by them. | But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of their threats. |
| If I have the gift of prophecy and the ability to understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and have all the faith necessary to move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. | If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. |
| If you confess with your lips, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. | If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. |
| If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person. For the temple of God is holy, and you are that temple. | God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple. |
| As much as possible, and to the extent of your ability, live in peace with everyone. | Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. |
| And if one should fall, his companion will help him up. How pathetic is the man who is alone and falls and has no one to assist him to his feet. | If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. |
| If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. | When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. |
