If your brother wrongs you, go and take up the matter with him when the two of you are alone. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over. | Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. |
He did not spare his own Son but gave him up for all of us. How then can he fail also to give us everything else along with him? | He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? |
|
Make your ways known to me, O Lord; teach me your paths. | Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. |
Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. | He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. |
Honor your father and your mother so that your days may be lengthened in the land that the Lord your God, will give you. | Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. |
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. | For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. |
Repent and renounce all your transgressions. Otherwise your iniquity will prove to be your downfall. | Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. |
Let us never grow weary in doing what is right, for if we do not give up, we will reap our harvest in due time. | And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. |
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. | For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. |
But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions. | But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. |
To do your will, O God, is my delight; your law is in my heart. | I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. |
Then keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies. | Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. |
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. | For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. |
Teach me your ways, O Lord, so that I may walk in your truth; let me worship your name with an undivided heart. | Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. |
You shall observe the Sabbath by keeping it holy, as the Lord, your God, has commanded you. You are to labor on six days, doing all of your work then. The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord, your God. You shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your ox, nor your ass, nor your cattle, nor even the foreigner living in your town. Thus your manservant and maidservant can rest as well. | Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee. Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou. |
May he give you your heart’s desire and grant you success in all your plans. | Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. |
So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. | If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. |
Come to your senses and sin no more. For some of you have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame. | Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. |
Each person should give as much as he has decided in his heart, not with reluctance or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. | Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. |
Hear, O Israel, the Lord, our God, is Lord alone. You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. | Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. |
While he was departing as they gazed upward toward the sky, suddenly two men dressed in white robes stood beside them, and they said, “Men of Galilee, why are you standing there looking up into the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven.” | And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. |
If it seems wrong to you to serve the Lord, then today you must choose whom you will serve, whether it be the gods that your fathers served on the other side of the river, or the gods of the Amorites who dwell in the land. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. | And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. |
You shall serve the Lord, your God. He will bless your bread and water and take away sickness from your midst. | And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. |
O Lord, do not withhold your mercy from me; may your kindness and your truth keep me safe forever. | Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. |
And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a sacrificial offering whose fragrance is pleasing to God. | And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. |
