Don’t envy violent people or copy their ways. Such wicked people are detestable to the Lord, but he offers his friendship to the godly. | Don’t envy the man of violence. Choose none of his ways. For the perverse is an abomination to Yahweh, but his friendship is with the upright. |

Giving a gift can open doors; it gives access to important people! | A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men. |

The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? | Yahweh is on my side. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? |
Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety. | The fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe. |
People may be right in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their heart. | Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the hearts. |
