The good person out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil person out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
Let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but if there is any good word for edification according to the need of the moment, say that, so that it will give grace to those who hear.Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise; When he closes his lips, he is considered prudent.Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; When he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.
When there are many words, wrongdoing is unavoidable, But one who restrains his lips is wise.In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise.
You know this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Now everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger. So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.
Open your mouth for the people who cannot speak, For the rights of all the unfortunate.Open your mouth for the speechless, In the cause of all who are appointed to die.
A person has joy in an apt answer, And how delightful is a timely word!A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is!
A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.
Little children, let’s not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth. My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.
For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to rein in the whole body as well. For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.
Words from the mouth of a wise person are gracious, while the lips of a fool consume him.The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious, But the lips of a fool shall swallow him up.
One who goes about as a slanderer reveals secrets, But one who is trustworthy conceals a matter.A talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.
From the same mouth come both blessing and cursing. My brothers and sisters, these things should not be this way.Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.

Now if your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have gained your brother. Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.
Accordingly, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops. Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.
Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Your speech must always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

And when you are praying, do not use thoughtless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard because of their many words. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
