Speaking (3/3)

The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver, The heart of the wicked is worth little. The words of the godly are like sterling silver; the heart of a fool is worthless.
But make sure your statement is, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is of evil origin.Just say a simple, ‘Yes, I will,’ or ‘No, I won’t.’ Anything beyond this is from the evil one.
But as for you, proclaim the things which are fitting for sound doctrine. As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching.
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their lights. The Lord merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born.
One who conceals hatred has lying lips, And one who spreads slander is a fool.Hiding hatred makes you a liar; slandering others makes you a fool.
For with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
Blessings are on the head of the righteous, But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. The godly are showered with blessings; the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions.
I have not failed the command of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.I have not departed from his commands, but have treasured his words more than daily food.
I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.
But above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath; but your yes is to be yes, and your no, no, so that you do not fall under judgment. But most of all, my brothers and sisters, never take an oath, by heaven or earth or anything else. Just say a simple yes or no, so that you will not sin and be condemned.
In my distress I called upon the Lord, And cried to my God for help; He heard my voice from His temple, And my cry for help before Him came into His ears. But in my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears.
For no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.
If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance, forgive. Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
And if you say in your heart, ‘How will we recognize the word which the Lord has not spoken?’ When the prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, and the thing does not happen or come true, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you are not to be afraid of him.But you may wonder, ‘How will we know whether or not a prophecy is from the Lord?’ If the prophet speaks in the Lord’s name but his prediction does not happen or come true, you will know that the Lord did not give that message. That prophet has spoken without my authority and need not be feared.
Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, But those who deal faithfully are His delight. The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth.
And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’
And on that day you will say, “Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; Make them remember that His name is exalted.”In that wonderful day you will sing: “Thank the Lord! Praise his name! Tell the nations what he has done. Let them know how mighty he is!”
And tongues that looked like fire appeared to them, distributing themselves, and a tongue rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with different tongues, as the Spirit was giving them the ability to speak out. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.
I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders.I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done.
The words of a gossiper are like dainty morsels, And they go down into the innermost parts of the body.Rumors are dainty morsels that sink deep into one’s heart.
And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness. After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.
You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.”
But I say to you, take no oath at all, neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God, nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of His feet, nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. But I say, do not make any vows! Do not say, ‘By heaven!’ because heaven is God’s throne. And do not say, ‘By the earth!’ because the earth is his footstool. And do not say, ‘By Jerusalem!’ for Jerusalem is the city of the great King.
