Speaking (2/3)

When you are praying, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard because of their many words. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
O give thanks to the Lord, call on his name, make known his deeds among the peoples.Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.
So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
A fool's lips bring strife, and a fool's mouth invites a flogging. The lips of fools bring them strife, and their mouths invite a beating.
In all toil there is profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.
If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
Anxiety weighs down the human heart, but a good word cheers it up.Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked what is perverse. The lips of the righteous know what finds favor, but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit.Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies.
Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you.Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.
It is honorable to refrain from strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel. It is to one’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.
Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly.Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.
Even before a word is on my tongue, O Lord, you know it completely. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.
The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; the mind of the wicked is of little worth. The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked is of little value.
While I kept silence, my body wasted away through my groaning all day long. When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long.
Lying lips conceal hatred, and whoever utters slander is a fool.Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips and spreads slander is a fool.
If any think they are religious, and do not bridle their tongues but deceive their hearts, their religion is worthless. Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.
For one believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
Jesus answered them, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only will you do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ it will be done.”Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.”
