When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all assembled together in one place. Suddenly, there came from heaven a sound similar to that of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were sitting. | And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which separated and came to rest on each one of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit enabled them to do so. | And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. Those who accepted his message were baptized, and on that day about three thousand people were added to their number. | Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. |
They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayers. | And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. |
Every day, united in spirit, they would assemble together in the temple. They would break bread in their homes and share their food with joyful and generous hearts as they praised God, and they were regarded with favor by all the people. And day by day the Lord added to those who were being saved. | And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. |
