Law (2/5)

For Christ is the fulfillment of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God.
This commandment we have from him, that he who loves God should also love his brother. And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.
For sin will not have dominion over you, for you are not under law, but under grace.Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.
If you love me, keep my commandments. If you love me, obey my commandments.
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn’t have known sin except through the law. For I wouldn’t have known coveting unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”Well then, am I suggesting that the law of God is sinful? Of course not! In fact, it was the law that showed me my sin. I would never have known that coveting is wrong if the law had not said, “You must not covet.”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power.
And keep the instruction of Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, his commandments, his ordinances, and his testimonies, according to that which is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn yourself.Observe the requirements of the Lord your God, and follow all his ways. Keep the decrees, commands, regulations, and laws written in the Law of Moses so that you will be successful in all you do and wherever you go.
Don’t judge, so that you won’t be judged.Do not judge others, and you will not be judged.
For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
He declared to you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even the ten commandments. He wrote them on two stone tablets. He proclaimed his covenant—the Ten Commandments—which he commanded you to keep, and which he wrote on two stone tablets.
Those who love your law have great peace. Nothing causes them to stumble. Those who love your instructions have great peace and do not stumble.
You shall most certainly not make gods of silver or gods of gold for yourselves to be alongside me.Remember, you must not make any idols of silver or gold to rival me.
Love doesn’t harm a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law.Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.
The wise in heart accept commandments, but a chattering fool will fall. The wise are glad to be instructed, but babbling fools fall flat on their faces.
He who keeps his commandments remains in him, and he in him. By this we know that he remains in us, by the Spirit which he gave us.Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us.
I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies, as much as in all riches.I have rejoiced in your laws as much as in riches.
We have sinned, and have dealt perversely, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even turning aside from your precepts and from your ordinances. But we have sinned and done wrong. We have rebelled against you and scorned your commands and regulations.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, even as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.
Be it known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man is proclaimed to you remission of sins; and by him everyone who believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.Brothers, listen! We are here to proclaim that through this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins. Everyone who believes in him is made right in God’s sight—something the law of Moses could never do.
Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?
You are alienated from Christ, you who desire to be justified by the law. You have fallen away from grace. For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.
But he who looks into the perfect law of freedom and continues, not being a hearer who forgets but a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in what he does. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
You shall diligently keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he has commanded you.You must diligently obey the commands of the Lord your God—all the laws and decrees he has given you.
I will never forget your precepts, for with them, you have revived me.I will never forget your commandments, for by them you give me life.
He therefore who supplies the Spirit to you and does miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.

Yahweh’s law is perfect, restoring the soul. Yahweh’s covenant is sure, making wise the simple. The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
