Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” | Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. |
But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” | But Jesus said, “Leave the children alone, and do not forbid them to come to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” |
If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. | For if you forgive other people for their offenses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. |
For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them. | For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst. |
Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. | Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine, and acts on them, will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. |
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. | But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you. |

And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? | Look at the birds of the sky, that they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather crops into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more important than they? |
But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. | But as for you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. |
When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. | And when you are praying, do not use thoughtless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard because of their many words. |
Then he added, “Now go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.” | Now go and learn what this means: ‘I desire compassion, rather than sacrifice,’ for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners. |
