| And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. | Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. | For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. |
| Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. | Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. |
| Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. | Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another. |
| Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. | Not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. |
| Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. | Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer. |
| Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. | Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. |
| Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. | Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. |
| Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all! | Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. |
| Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. | If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. |
| Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good. | Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. |
