You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” | So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” |
Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. | If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. |
Can he walk on hot coals and not blister his feet? | Or can one walk on hot coals and his feet not be scorched? |
Fathers can give their sons an inheritance of houses and wealth, but only the Lord can give an understanding wife. | House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord. |
How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word. | How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. |
We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps. | The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. |
No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. | For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. |
Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? | Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? |
You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail. | Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. |

You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it. | And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith. |

That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long. | My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all the day. |
