Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. | Without counsel, plans go awry, But in the multitude of counselors they are established. |
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. | I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. |

All this also comes from the Lord Almighty, whose plan is wonderful, whose wisdom is magnificent. | This also comes from the Lord of hosts, Who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance. |
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers. | Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful. |
Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. | There are many plans in a man’s heart, Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel—that will stand. |
Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy. | Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil, But counselors of peace have joy. |
May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. | May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, And fulfill all your purpose. |
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. | For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. |
Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings. | Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. |
Do not envy the violent or choose any of their ways. For the Lord detests the perverse but takes the upright into his confidence. | Do not envy the oppressor, And choose none of his ways; For the perverse person is an abomination to the Lord, But His secret counsel is with the upright. |
Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. | Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. |
Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago. | O Lord, You are my God. I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, For You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. |
And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever. | And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever. |
When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. | But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. |
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. | But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. |
But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. | Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. |
