“All right then,” Joshua said, “destroy the idols among you, and turn your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”He said, “Then put away the foreign gods that are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.
Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword.Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices. To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's.
As for me, I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me.But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.
The teaching of your word gives light, so even the simple can understand. The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.
And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free.Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.
The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers. But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.
Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.So that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
Bring your confessions, and return to the Lord. Say to him, “Forgive all our sins and graciously receive us, so that we may offer you our praises.”Take with you words and return to the Lord; say to him, “Take away all iniquity; accept what is good, and we will pay with bulls the vows of our lips.”
And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.
But the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.”And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”
And he took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. He gave it to them and said, “Each of you drink from it, for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many.”And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
For I have given rest to the weary and joy to the sorrowing. For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.
In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.
Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord! Praise the Lord!Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
To the faithful you show yourself faithful; to those with integrity you show integrity. With the merciful you show yourself merciful; with the blameless man you show yourself blameless.
And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul. And you must always obey the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good. And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good?
Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun.Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday.

For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church.
