| I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. | The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. |
| Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. | As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. |
| And in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ | And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. |
| In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? | In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. |
| And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. | And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. |

| Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. | Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you. | Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee. |
| Who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. | Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. |
| For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. | For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. |
| For you, O God, have tested us; you have tried us as silver is tried. | For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried. |
| Do not forsake your friend and your father's friend, and do not go to your brother's house in the day of your calamity. Better is a neighbor who is near than a brother who is far away. | Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off. |
| Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. | Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God. |
