And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

But according to Scripture all things have been confined under sin, so that through faith in Jesus Christ what was promised might be given to those who believe.
