| Thus you could understand that the Lord, your God, was disciplining you, just like a father disciplines his son. | You shall consider in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so Yahweh your God disciplines you. |
| Indeed, the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any two-edged sword, it pierces to the point where it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and the intentions of the heart. | For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart. |
| Then Peter asked, “Ananias, why has Satan so gained control of your heart that you lied to the Holy Spirit and retained part of the sale price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not belong to you? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds yours? What caused you to contrive this scheme? | Listen, my son, and take my words to heart, and the years of your life will be multiplied. | Listen, my son, and receive my sayings. The years of your life will be many. |
