| Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” | Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.” |

But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. |

| Welcome those who are weak in faith, but not for the purpose of quarreling over opinions. | Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong. |
| If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if the offender refuses to listen even to the church, let such a one be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. | If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector. |
| If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit. | Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. |
| Nevertheless I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. | But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you. |
| The saying is sure: If we have died with him, we will also live with him. | This is a trustworthy saying: If we die with him, we will also live with him. |
| What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? | What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? |
| If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. | If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing. |
| But if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. | But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins. |
| Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” | Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” |
| For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. | If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. |
| Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it. | Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. |
| The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also. | And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers. |
| And said to them, “Whoever welcomes this child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me; for the least among all of you is the greatest.” | Then he said to them, “Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me also welcomes my Father who sent me. Whoever is the least among you is the greatest.” |
| If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. | Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. |
| For if you truly amend your ways and your doings, if you truly act justly one with another, if you do not oppress the alien, the orphan, and the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own hurt, then I will dwell with you in this place, in the land that I gave of old to your ancestors forever and ever. | But I will be merciful only if you stop your evil thoughts and deeds and start treating each other with justice; only if you stop exploiting foreigners, orphans, and widows; only if you stop your murdering; and only if you stop harming yourselves by worshiping idols. Then I will let you stay in this land that I gave to your ancestors to keep forever. |
| Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but one who rejects a rebuke goes astray. | People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life, but those who ignore correction will go astray. |
| By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. | Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. |
| If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him. | If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him! |
| Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever follows perverse ways will be found out. | People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed. |
