But you belong to God, my dear children. Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. | He is the head of the body, the assembly, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he might have the preeminence. |

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God. | Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness. |
You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate. | Therefore be merciful, even as your Father is also merciful. |
The Lord is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness. | Yahweh is righteous in all his ways, and gracious in all his works. |
And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God. | Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? |
Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. | Yours, Yahweh, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty! For all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, Yahweh, and you are exalted as head above all. |
For the word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything he does. | For Yahweh’s word is right. All his work is done in faithfulness. |
Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. | Every word of God is flawless. He is a shield to those who take refuge in him. |
Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. | The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. |
“I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.” | “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” |
The Lord is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices. | To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to Yahweh than sacrifice. |
Our God is in the heavens, and he does as he wishes. | But our God is in the heavens. He does whatever he pleases. |
And how much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Yes, the law permits a person to do good on the Sabbath. | Of how much more value then is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath day. |
A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need. | A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity. |
You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. | Enter in by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in by it. How narrow is the gate and the way is restricted that leads to life! There are few who find it. |
You know what I long for, Lord; you hear my every sigh. | Lord, all my desire is before you. My groaning is not hidden from you. |
There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death. | There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. |
