If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. | If the world hates you, be aware that it hated me before it hated you. |
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me. | When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, he will testify on my behalf. |
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. | Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth: it is better for you that I depart. For if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you, whereas if I go, I will send him to you. |
And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. | And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment. |
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. | Until now, in my name, you have not asked for anything. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete. |
I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. | I came from the Father and have come into the world. Now I am leaving the world and returning to the Father. |
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. | I have told you this so that in me you may be in peace. In the world you will endure suffering. But take courage! I have overcome the world. |
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. | And eternal life is this: to know you, the only true God, and the one you have sent, Jesus Christ. |
I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. | I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I do ask you to protect them from the evil one. |
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. | Father, allow those you have given me to be with me where I am, so that they may behold my glory, which you have bestowed on me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. |

But go to my brethren and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ” |
Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. | “Peace be with you,” Jesus said to them again. “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” |
