| But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written: “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” | He who called you is holy. Therefore, be holy yourselves in all your conduct. For Scripture says, “Be holy, for I am holy.” |
| The mentioning of the righteous is a blessing, But the name of the wicked will rot. | The righteous is remembered with blessings, but the name of the wicked fades away. |

| For bodily training is just slightly beneficial, but godliness is beneficial for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. | While physical training has some value, the benefits of godliness are unlimited, since it holds out promise not only for this life but also for the life to come. |

| Guarding the paths of justice, And He watches over the way of His godly ones. | For he guards the paths of justice and keeps watch over the way of his faithful ones. |
