My child, do not despise the Lord's discipline or be weary of his reproof, for the Lord reproves the one he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights. But if the wicked turn away from all their sins that they have committed and keep all my statutes and do what is lawful and right, they shall surely live; they shall not die. Wives, be subject to your husbands as you are to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife just as Christ is the head of the church, the body of which he is the Savior. Know then in your heart that as a parent disciplines a child so the Lord your God disciplines you. Deuteronomy 8:5	Thus you could understand that the Lord, your God, was disciplining you, just like a father disciplines his son. Father learning punishment
